Today I got to attend and contribute to Taylor University’s 4th Annual Spring Professional Writing Retreat, hosted at Upland Community Church.
I’m in the process of converting my workshop script into several blogs, feel free to check out my workshop powerpoint in the meantime.
Here are some photos of the event:
Me asking someone to read from a particular book as an example. Photo courtesy of Ian Proano.Taylor grad Josh Beaumont lead a fascinating workshop on finding villains’ more human sidesInterestingly, Josh and I both used examples from Marvel’s Daredevil in our talks.Taylor student Ari Lemont gave an amazing talk on how to construct fantasy languages.Ari did a great job of explaining sounds English uses which other languages don’t, drawing on her childhood in Asia.Tim Pietz ended the event on a high note with a hilarious parody of “The Silver Chair” by C.S. Lewis. I got to be the posh British narrator. Photo courtesy of Ari Lemont.
